State Rep. Ajay Pittman, D-Oklahoma City is in hot water over alleged campaign finance violations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday afternoon, investigators from the attorney general\u2019s office served a search warrant on Pittman\u2019s fifth floor Capitol office. The Oklahoman reported in July<\/a> that the attorney general\u2019s office had started investigating her campaign spending. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also on Thursday, the Oklahoma Ethics Commission filed a civil suit in Oklahoma County District Court against Pittman, alleging she failed to follow the terms of a May 2024 settlement agreement.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the most notable allegations in the 35-page filing<\/a> is that former Sen. Anastania Pittman, Ajay Pittman\u2019s mother, falsified records stating that water damage had destroyed campaign records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDefendant’s submission of falsified documents to the Ethics Commission was intentional, malicious, and in reckless disregard of the Commission’s enforcement authority and statutory duties,\u201d the complaint reads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, R-Bristow, announced Friday he had removed Pittman from the State-Tribal Relations Committee. She could face additional reprimands when the legislative session convenes in February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson, D-Oklahoma City, stopped short of calling for Pittman\u2019s resignation, but described the allegations as serious in nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRegardless of party or elected position, not one of us is above the law,\u201d Munson said. \u201cAs this investigation continues, I encourage Rep. Pittman to cooperate with law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attorney general\u2019s investigation could result in criminal charges for Pittman. Under Oklahoma law, embezzlement of $1,000 is a felony. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of Friday afternoon, Pittman had not publicly responded to the allegations.\u00a0
