Under the directive, the Trump administration canceled wind energy projects across the country and stopped issuing new leases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou cannot weaponize these things and just for political purposes put your thumb on the scale,\u201d Stitt said while speaking at Semafor\u2019s \u201cPowering America\u2019s Future\u201d event. He did not mention the president by name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a written statement on Thursday, a spokesperson for Stitt\u2019s office said the governor \u201cchampions a \u2018best of everything\u2019 energy strategy that gets government out of the way and lets the free market compete.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA reliable grid includes wind, natural gas, and other resources and requires a federal permitting process that does not weaponize regulation,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cOklahoma has some of the lowest energy costs in the country. Governor Stitt is proud of our energy industry and will continue to fight to keep it strong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stitt\u2019s comments come after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notus.org\/energy\/federal-judge-rules-trump-anti-wind-directive-unlawful\">federal judge<\/a> on Monday ruled Trump\u2019s order unlawful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The order was arbitrary and capricious and contrary to law, U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Officials accomplished that by repeatedly invoking the National Environmental Policy Act, a statute that requires federal agencies to conduct a procedural review of most major agency actions and other environmental laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report comes as House lawmakers are set to vote next week on the SPEED Act, a bipartisan permitting reform bill that would amend the language and reduce the amount of necessary environmental reviews that federal agencies have to carry out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChina has very few wind farms,\u201d Trump said at a Tuesday rally in Pennsylvania on affordability. \u201cYou know why? Because they\u2019re smart. We don\u2019t approve of windmills \u2026. Every time you put one up, only the guy that owns it makes a lot of money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Ed.
